We've Been Callanized ^_^

From the 11th to the 15th of January, I and some teachers of Native Camp underwent a comprehensive training for Callan Method. It's a teaching method designed for students who wish to learn English in less time. This method has been used in English Language Schools in UK. It was a bit hard for us to learn this method since it's new to us. It's totally different from the traditional and conventional way of teaching. There are lots of efforts needed to rightly execute this method. As I seek for better ways of improving my teaching skills I was able to list down some noteworthy points when teaching. You are not teaching if you are not correcting. Of course, the best way for a student to learn is by knowing his mistakes and trying  not to do the same thing. Keep up with the student. It may be true that a teacher must be one chapter ahead of the student, but having known the different types of students you have it's just right to be on the same leve...

Little Kindness: Big Smile #1

I believe kindness never goes out of style. So I wanted to post stories about the sweet acts of little kindness showed by random people I meet every day. Here's the first for this year ☺ ☺☺☺ Last Friday, I arrived at the university earlier than usual. I then looked for a nearby kainan since my tummy monsters were screaming. There wasn't any. So I decided to take a nap inside the classroom forgetting how hungry I was. Five minutes later, somebody tapped my shoulder trying to wake me up. The faces looked unfamiliar. Three college girls. They handed me a bread and a tetra packed juice. I was taken aback. hahahaha.  "Ma'am, naa pa mi extra snack from our activity. Imoha lang ni ma'am oh. Basin gigutom na kaayo ka." said one of the girls. For less than  P15 you can brighten  up someone's day ^_^ I did not know what to say. They might have overheard me asking and looking for a cafeteria. It took a minute or two for me to respond. I was real...

Faith Goals 2016

Even before January 1st my Facebook news page has been flooded with posts about new year's resolution, goals, and expectations. That's too overwhelming. Yes. But I just wonder which of these lists would be realized even before these will be forgotten. When we set something for ourselves be it deadlines or goals, we tend to plan the whole thing and don't leave the doing to God. For this year's prayer and fasting week at church, we dare to believe  that God will meet all our faith goals because God can . But what are faith goals? Defining it simply, these are things that you desire to achieve or accomplish by and in faith. Say for example, this year you desire to own a car, study abroad, start a business, restore broken relationships, or physical healing. The list can go on and as you may have noticed these are the things that you thought are a little too selfish that you don't tell them to God. Actually God already knows what's in our hearts (Psa...

Oh Hey December!

Tis the season to be jolly fa la la la la la la la ♪♪♫♪ Oh Hey! Lemme give you five reasons why I love December ^_^ 1. People give gifts. We give and we expect something in return (hahahaha). Kidding aside, every Christmas season people would flock the shopping malls and get busy buying something for someone. For some this may be a sort of an obligation or a necessity but on a lighter side, this act reminds people that giving is one sure way to show how we value the people around us. 2. People share food. Weeeeeeehhhhhhh!!! Food! Food! Food! Reportedly, people gain weight during Christmas season. But, that's not something alarming to me (hihi) Oh how I love what my mama prepares on the table. Also, we get to share food (especially dessert) with neighbors. OMG! The fridge is always full! And it's just sooooo awesome! hahahahahaha 3. People spend time. What I love about our tradition is our great value for our family. Christmas is the best man...

GGPEI First Anniversary (Team Mary)

For almost eight months now, I have worked as an online ESL teacher to Japanese. And just recently, the company I am currently connected with had its first anniversary (wohooooo!!!) It feels overwhelming to be part of this celebration. The firsts are always historical. As part of the event, the company which has more than a hundred employees decided to have this Team Dance and Halloween Costume Design Competitions. Our team, Team Mary , won 3rd place and 2nd place respectively. We are CHAMPIONS! FYI: We are the only team (out of eight teams ehems ehems) to win in both categories. Lemme repeat, WE ARE CHAMPIONS! This is my blog so I'm a little biased. What I loved about the prep and practice days was that I get to know the people I am working with deeper. And because I have all the right to be biased because I repeat, this is my blog lemme describe my team mates and what I discovered about them! hahahaha However, I can only list here those who I spent more time with. hehehe....

Hana's Dealings

It is always good to have a share of other people's stories especially if written through poems. This one's from a friend who too has her share of pains and heartaches in life. I find beauty in writing and it thrills me to know someone who does the same. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ The Deal of Wilderness Honey Rose "Hana" Timtim The intense gust of the wind is coming again, The sun’s hot rays are blazing and sizzling, Penetrating on the open pores of my skin, Giving both warm and cold senses same of a gin. The rustling of the leaves and chirping of birds, Are a sweet melody on my dancing feathers, Seems so stupendous to feel this again, and t’was like a candy on my window pane. Been a long time since I felt the hitting of the dart, A feeling that palpitates the core of my heart, So loud, so strong, so wild, tickling every part, Should I be drowned or holding on top and be smart? I’m very powerful yet powerless, Don’t want to think again as flawless, Caus...

Take a Break

Evidently, in a fast-pacing environment where most of us are trying to race with time it is nothing but a pressing issue that we have actually overlooked the things which are more valuable in life. There are too many precious little things that this generation has long forgotten. It is either because of being too engrossed with social media or because of being ungrateful of the small beautiful things that God has abundantly and freely given us. I took that photo for our photo journalism class back when I was in college. The kid is one of those homeless people who are visible around Magellan's Cross. My intention in taking that photo was not to glamorize poverty rather it was of my gladness in seeing that kid happily leaping barefooted on the church grounds. I was looking at him like he cared less of what other people are doing. He was minding his own business. To me he knew what it means to be more human. It was such a beautiful scene. You! Yes you! Well I am not pointi...
