It was about four years ago when I heard of Coursera from a student who already took a few classes. I think that was a manifestation! Since the pandemic started, I thought I have a lot of time in my hands to learn of something new virtually. So long story short, I enrolled in a free course in Coursera.
However, the 5-week course was stretched to a year. Yes! I finished the course a year after I started taking the lessons. Forgive me for being a procrastinator. I know this mindset won't help me grow so that is why I made it a goal to complete it this month.
To be specific, I took English for Media Literacy course. Actually, I studied mass media in college and I'm currently an English teacher. Boasting aside, I already know all the topics in the course. Consequently, my ultimate goal is to refresh my memory and polish my knowledge of the course.
True enough, I was able to recall things I learned six years ago! The course has reading, listening, vocabulary, and grammar activities that would help you exercise your brain. That's when I realized my skills are declining. But don't be disheartened. As you progress in the lesson, you will get used to it and find it easier to answer the quizzes and write short essays and discussions well or at least better than you expected.
In order for me to receive the certificate, I have to pay 5,418jpy (2,500php). Well, education is a good investment!
P.S As of this posting, I haven't purchased the certificate yet but I sure will! I'll update this post soon.
