Team Outing by Hanaru

Got a permission from Hanaru to post this here ☺This was originally posted on our company's website. The red letters are my side comments hihihihi!

Hi, Hana here! I am so excited to share with you our fantastic and memorable team building/outing happened last August 1, 2016.

The VEHICLE

Native Camp provided us the company’s jeepney as our vehicle to go to the venue. We’re so lucky to have one!

(L-R Back) Merose, Hanaru, Cristy, The Meeeee. (L-R Front) Annie and Yugi-san

The DESTINATION

HIDDEN VALLEY MOUNTAIN, WAVE POOL and BEACH RESORT
When the team were looking for a breathtaking, tranquil and stress-reliever venue which could improve our relationship with one another and create a bond like never before, one of our team members suggested this  place. From the name itself, HIDDEN VALLEY WAVEPOOL RESORT was truly hidden away from the city. (And the way going there is bumpy really bumpy O_o) It nestled in the rugged mountains of Barangay Lamac, Pinamungahan (that’s almost two hours away from the urban). We spent 3 hours though because of the things we had to buy along the way. Truly, the place was a paradise that took our breaths away. (Actually, more than 3 hours but less than 4 hours hahahahaha)

HAPPY TUMMY

YumYum!

Haaayssss :( Spicy! Not good for me

Before anything else, we satisfied our stomachs with these sumptuous foods. Apart from sizzling grilled pork, fish, lumpia and fruit salad (I made the salad!!! Me! Me! Me! hihi but actually Mother M helped me Tsk Tsk), we had delicious gimbabs made by Yugi-san. Gimbab is a Korean dish made from steamed white rice (bap) and various other ingredients, rolled in gim (sheets of dried laver seaweed) and served in bite-size slices. We were really touched by her thoughtfulness. Aww~~♥♥♥ (But I wasn't able to eat the gimbabs huhu coz spicy eh not good for meeee)

The GAMES

Our activity organizers Mary (My Mother M!) and Marga (The Meee ^_^) prepared 5 games to test and strengthen  our rapport. The team was divided in two ~~Alech-san’s and my group.

By the  way, I took most of the photos during the games Hahahaha. The candid poses and stolen shots are waaay better. Tsk Tsk. My workmates looked funny Bwahahahaha. But, but, but to me, that's more beautiful. ♥

Guess The Person   -  Each member of the group has to guess the NC-name (Our screen names) of the other member - who says it first, has a point. The more number of points, the more chances of winning. (Hahahahaha)

Pass The Message (my most favorite activity) -  It’s as easy as ABC! It needs a great pair of ears and memory skills. (And a love for tongue twisters hahaha) Correct delivery of speech with proper pronunciation is a must as well. Yugi-san, Toni-san and Love-san, were doing their best to win. Go! Go! Go Campers!

Go Hanaru!

This is just a proof that preposition matters! Hahahaha

Pull The Cups  - The activity requires a strategy and great cooperation. During the game, each member in every group exerted an equal amount of force in pulling the string in order not to spill the water out of the cups.

Balloon Relay - This seemed silly yet so fun. Alech-san and Marchel-san were all ready to start the game.

Sorry Alech hahaha you looked funny here but I must say yer still cute! (duuuhhh hahaha)

Pass the small ball - Each team concentrated on not letting the ball fell on the ground. Teamwork’s the ultimate goal, campers.

Hahahahahahahaha Ka funny these girls ooys

Ka naning! hahaha Go! Go! Go!

~ After a series of shouts, giggles and run, the decision finally came. Our points were summed up and the team who got the most number of points of all the games was the winner. And guess what? My team brought home the bacon. Yay! On my left (right man gud Hanaru hihihi) are our pretty (ehem ehems) organizers with their striking poses. Hehe

(L-R) Shang, Marchel, Yugi-san, Toni, Hanaru, Mother M, The Meeee

The WAVE

The main twist this place offered was the man- made waves. We enjoyed ourselves moving up and down along the waves. It was a perfect relaxation time, not to mention the modern songs that were played while we’re in the water. It gave us relief after our tiring-yet-so-fun games.

Mura mig nibalik pagkabata tungod sa bawod!

The PARADE OF BEAUTIES

On the upper part of the hill, the nature and its beauty captivated us. We loved it so much we couldn’t resist taking pictures. As shown, the ladies we’re confidently beautiful with a heart (especially me hahahaha)

(L-R) Alech, Annie, Love, Cristy, The Meeee, Mother M, Merose, Hanaru, Yugi-san, Marchel

The WHOLE TEAM

Indeed, our team building was very successful.  It was a long day for us but the moments we shared and the smiles shown on our faces as we headed back to the city were priceless. Kudos, team!

Me is on the leftmost hihi with my fave yellow scarf ♥

A team that works well together is more effective, more productive, and more successful, not to mention happier and more fun to work with!

Thank you for reading pals. You may also visit the place if you’d like to experience the beauty of nature. I’m sure you’ll love it. Until next time!

Thank you Hanaru hihi. Now I no longer carry the burden of posting this bwahahahaha!

Filipino Stores and Restaurants in Tokyo

For somebody who craves for Filipino food and snacks from time to time, here are the stores I frequent to. I can only share a limited perspective but solely based on my experiences. Read on! Filipino Stores 1. Asia Yaosho (Kabukicho, Shinjuku)  While they mostly have Filipino products, they also sell Thai goods. I think their prices are a little lower than the other Filipino stores I've tried. However, they have limited stocks and they often run out of items that I usually need, like Bearbrand. 😁 Credits: This photo is from this website .  2.  Ameyoko Center Underground Marekt (Ueno)   This market is heaven for Southeast Asians. They have a lot of varieties, dry goods, frozen meat, and even fresh seafood. There are also two Filipino stores in the area. They sell more items than Asia Yaosho but they are a bit pricey.  Credits: Photo is from this website. The market is underground. The entrance is on the side of this building at the center of this photo.  3....

Favor! As I was preparing to apply for this job, I felt that certain peace and assurance that this would go well. True enough, I got shortlisted for an interview. But it wasn't only an interview, there was also a written exam and a teaching demo. All happened in one day. Then the waiting starts. Two months to be exact. This position isn't always available. It's uncertain how many teachers the city would accept in a year. And a lot of us would want to get in. The perks and benefits that come along this direct employment are something foreign workers are longing to have. Then they called me and told me I was first on the waitlist. We were all put on the waitlist. I heard there were over a hundred applicants. Less than half got called for an interview. Then about twenty were considered for the position. But it was still uncertain how many of the twenty will successfully sign a contract. Another week passed when I finally received a mail. It was the contract package. Then they ...

But Before Summer

Today, I held back my tears as I was watching my student hitting his head while saying, 'Atama ga warui' which literally means 'My head is bad'. The more precise translation would be 'I'm stupid' or 'I'm dumb'. The students were using their school provided tablets to do some listening tasks and yet this particular student was just carelessly tapping the screen, opening random school apps. So I approached him and tried to help him navigate the school portal. And as soon as we could open his digital workbook, I left him so he could find the pages and the audio file on his own. I went around the class to help the other kids. But I would from time to time check on that student at a distance. Then not long, he started hitting his head again and repeatedly telling himself 'I'm dumb'. It was so painful to watch. But then suddenly one classmate sitting next to him stood up and helped him and another one followed. I was moved by such sight.  H...
