Going on a snowy mountain may be a perfect year end activity but I thought there must be something else. So off to Izu Peninsula we go. This prefecture is more of a Summer getaway but some locals also go there to enjoy hot spring and a warmer Winter. Since it's a little far from Tokyo, we opted to stay overnight around Ito Station. Here's the hotel we booked Kameya Rakan . It's ryokan , a Japanese-style hotel. I highly recommend this place since it's by the bay. It also has public and private onsen or hot spring. THE NEXT DAY From Ito Station we took a bus going to Izu Shaboten Zoo. The bus ride is about 40 minutes up the mountains and stops just right in front of the zoo. The view going there is just amazing.
